David J. Syczylo has been inspired by film ever since he was
a young kid. Watching films like Star Wars blew his mind away
and he knew someday he would be working in the film industry.
David loves Sci-Fi, Creature, and Horror films. The creature
from "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" is one of
his all time favorite classic movie monsters. Besides from the
space fantasy David loves puppetry from the Muppets, Fraggle
Rock, to the Dark Crystal and more. Real interaction on set
is something David favors over computer-generated imagery.
As a kid David built many items from Lego to models, even making
custom playsets for his action figures. As he grew older his
passion of building things progressed into props and costumes
that have inspired other creators out there to follow his steps.
David started his educational training by attending the Herron
School of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana where he got his training
in traditional fine art skills and art history. From there he
progressed into Visual Communications - Multimedia Specialty
and a background in business attending both I.U.P.U.I. and Ivy
Tech State College, Indianapolis depending where classes were
offered. He graduated with honors in 2001 as a member of Phi
Theta Kappa.
David has acted in one television commercial for the Central
Indianapolis Regional Blood Center in 1997. David has worked
on a few short films such as "Carbonite" which won
second place in the 2003 Atom Films Star Wars Fan Films. Most
of David’s film or theatrical experience has been off
and behind the camera or stage using his skills to create props,
costumes, scenery, and visual effects.
David still continues creating props, replicas, costumes, web
design, and more to fuel his imagination. Recently he has been
getting in front of the camera by acting. He enjoys more serious
roles than comedy. His dream is to one day be encased in a full
body creature suit and play the creature in a creature film.
