Current and former Kentucky filmmakers take home top awards at this year’s festival.
LOUISVILLE, KY. (February 21st)
Louisville natives Scooter Downey & Sean Elliot, and Frankfort filmmakers Todd Sheene, Allen Martin, & Scott Stafford are among the winners of the top prizes at the 2012 Derby City Film Festival which took place February 17th through the 19th.
“It’s in the Blood” written by Downey & Elliot, took home the awards for Best US Feature Film, Audience Choice, and Best Actor (Elliot). The film was directed by Downey and also stars Lance Henriksen who received a Lifetime Achievement Award prior to the film screening. Sheene, Martin, & Stafford took home the award for Best US Short Film for their film “Bizarnival: Tuxedos in the Attic”

Fandana to feature first-annual film festival, seeking submissions

HUNTINGTON, Ind. — Calling all filmmakers!

Huntington University is seeking submissions for its first annual Fandana Film Festival on Aug. 10-11.

Filmmakers can submit works for the film festival in the categories of narrative, documentary, animation in addition to a special one just for high school students. Awards include a “Best of Category” with prizes of $300 each and a “Best of Fest” prize of $500. The winners will also have their films shown on the main stage jumbotron in front of thousands during the Fandana Festival weekend.

Check out www.fandanafestival.com/film to submit films. The deadline for submissions is June 1. The submission fee is $25. A late registration fee of $35 is available through July 1.

Huntington’s hit music, art and film festival, Fandana Festival, is returning this year on Aug. 10-11, featuring Christian recording artist Chris Tomlin and more than 50 bands on multiple stages.

MayDay Film Festival is now accepting film submissions for the May 5th 2012 festival.
* Submissions will be accepted until April 14, 2012. There is no submission fee.
* Any film missing the March 19, 2012 submission deadline must pay a $25 late fee to be considered for se...lection. The $25 late fee does not guarantee selection. Late films will not be considered for any awards other than “Viewers' Selection” awards. These will be “showcase only” films, in the event of selection.
* Films of any length may be submitted. Music videos may be submitted.
* A submission application must be filled out completely and signed by a legal representative of the film's ownership. You can request the application via the contact info below.
* There must be no copyright infringement in the film. This includes, but is not limited to: logos, artwork, music and photography. You must be able to present legal documentation showing proof of your ownership of the material or permission of the owner for its usage upon request.
* By submitting a film for selection at MayDay Film Festival, you hereby release MayDay Film Festival, its employees, committee members, and volunteers from any liability that may result from the screening of your film.

Indiana-made films showing at the Irving Feb 17

NOBLESVILLE - INDIANA, January 5 – Multi-award winning Karmic Courage Productions (based in Nobelsville, IN) will have an epic screening of some sexy and scary shorts from Indianapolis filmmakers at the Irving Theater; Friday, February 17 at 7pm.

Arsonist Pictures (the production company behind the award winning zom-com BEVERLY LANE) is looking to cast 4 roles for their upcoming drama/slasher TERMS.

TERMS is a twisted tale of friendship & sacrifice that can be described as "Battle Royale meets The Breakfast Club". Plot details are currently being kept under wraps.

Call for entries for the 2012 Gen Con Indy Film Festival is now open!
Last year was our biggest contest ever, and we're looking forward to seeing the films we'll get this year.
Gen Con Indy will be held August 16th-19th 2012, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
Once again we are partnering with withoutabox.com to make the submission process as painless as possible.
There are three categories for submissions Feature Films, Short Films, and Series.

Sal DeLuca (Male): 30's. Frank's Assistant. He is the brains for Frank. Quiet demeanor, the opposite of Frank under pressure,—cool and calm. He speaks short and direct when spoken to, rather methodical in all he does. SUPPORTING/REOCCURRING.

 

Detective Tooker (Male): 30's. Has partnered with Brandon (main character) before on a big bust. Trustworthy, with a sense of humor. Slightly tall. SUPPORTING/REOCCURRING.

 

Harley Stevens (Male): He manufacturers and distributes Meth with his brother Courtney. They are the state’s #1 manufacturer/distributor of Crystal Meth. Can be volatile and unpredictable. Murderous. SUPPORTING/REOCCURRING.
