INDIANAPOLIS IMAX SAYS “SHORT” GOOD-BYE TO RUPERT
As part of their on-going “Indie-IMAX” program, the IMAX Theater at the State Museum will host the World Premiere of a new short production, “Believin’”, starring America’s Favorite Survivor, Rupert.
“Believin’” is a student film, written and produced by first-time filmmakers in association with WoodWorks Films, producers of “Saving Star Wars” and “Open Mic’rs”. The short stars Byron Fritz as Santa Claus, “The Tonight Show” veteran and comedian Hank McGill as the Easter Bunny, and Rupert as God. Producer and Director Gary Wood said, “We wanted a ‘God’ that looked like ‘Every Man’…yet possessed something that promised just a little more than ‘Every Man’.—he’s one of us, yet not one of us—our link to something bigger than all of us. That pretty much describes Rupert, doesn’t it?”
The 5-minute short will be followed by the feature-length “Open Mic’rs”, starring Cindy Morgan (“Caddyshack”, “Tron”), Dave Dugan, MTV’s Landon Lueck, Etta May, Hank McGill, and, of course, Rupert. Film critic Bonnie Britton called “Open Mic’rs” “the best locally-produced movie I have ever seen”. The program will end with a small auction of a few movie props and wardrobe, signed by Rupert, from the short video. In addition, a portion of the admissions will benefit, Ruperts Kids, the organization that. Doors will open at 7: 00 PM for a 7:30 PM show time.
