INDY AWARDS CALL FOR ENTRIES
ATTENTION INDIANA FILMMAKERS!

This Fall, IFS will host a one-night festival celebrating filmmakers from Indiana or films made in Indiana.

SEPTEMBER 27, 2008

Films must be 30 minutes or less in length. Films must be submitted on DVD and will not be returned.
Submitting your film does not guarantee a screening.

Leads to Director's First Feature Film

Louisville filmmaker and student Justine Feldt recently held the premiere of her first feature length film, "Winding Road". On April 25th 2008 the film played before an enthusiastic audience at Jefferson Community College in downtown Louisville, Ky. The film's lead actors Sarah Batchelor and Brandyn Cahill were present. <more>

Stop Motion Short Film Wins "Best of Show" at the 2008 eXceL Awards

Fort Wayne Freshmen Seth Boyden & Max Roesler, Bishop Dwenger High School, and Marshall Nill, Canterbury High School took top honors and $4000 in scholarshps at this year's eXceL Awards. The program in it's 19th year is put on by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. Awards were give for Writing, 2D Art, 3D Art, Performance Art, Video, and Music. 2008 INDY AWARDS Call For Entries

The Indiana Film Society is proud to announce the 16th INDY Awards, a festival celebrating short films made in Indiana by Indiana filmmakers. This festival gives Hoosier audiences a look at the great variety of films being made in their own backyards. In addition, each local filmmaker gains a new and enthusiastic audience for their work.

We welcome submissions by filmmakers (age 18 and above) who are residents or students currently residing in Indiana OR any film that was made in Indiana. In other words, you’re from Indiana or you made your film in Indiana. <more>

QUENCH to Show at
Indianapolis International Film Festival

QUENCH has been accepted to the Indianapolis International Film Festival. The festival will be taking place from April 23 - May 3 at the Landmark Keystone Arts Theatre located in the Keystone "Fashion" Mall in Indianapolis.

The festival will be releasing an official schedule on April 1st, but QUENCH has been tentatively scheduled for a late night screening on Saturday, April 26th.

Filmmaker exploring long-lost connection between Steve Martin, Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE — Thank goodness Americans pinched their buttocks correctly.

Otherwise, Terre Haute could’ve been forever immortalized in a movie called “Manure for the Millions.”

If you understand those two sentences, Gary Wood and his cohorts want to talk with you. (Counselors may, also.) The Indianapolis independent filmmaker is exploring the bizarre, long-lost connection between comedian Steve Martin and Terre Haute. Soon, Wood intends to begin filming a documentary called “One Wild and Crazy City” right here. <more>

Three Documentaries

The team that produced "Saving Star Wars" and "Open Mic'rs" are producing three documentaries simultaneously by the end of 2008. They are forming a new corporation called 3 Docs Productions and are opening up 25 shares for public participation.<more>

Spokes Casting Call

Spokes, a short film in pre-production by Columbia College Cinematography Special Studies Student is in need of a male father (29-40) and a son (4-13) for an April 12th & 13th shoot in Chicago.

Spokes concerns the relationship between father and son following a divorce.

This is an ideal opportunity to work with up coming talent in Chicago and get reel material on 35mm. Those two digits look impressive on the resume.

Compensation will be provided, although we are still looking for housing possibilities for the weekend.

Spokes has been written and will be shot by Columbia cinematography major Ryan Helding, and directed by Kelly Lynch.

The film will not be submitted to the MPAA rating system and therefore we cannot give it a rating, but it will contain blood/gore, language, nudity, sexual content, and violence.
